Instructions
  1. Put the dry ingredients into a bowl. Then add the beaten egg, along with the water. Whisky until you have a light batter, with no lumps. There should be plenty of air bubbles.
  2. Heat up a non-stick frying pan over a medium heat on the stove. (A electric frying pan can also be used). Use a ladle and drop into the pan. Once bubbles start forming on the top of the crumpet, you know it is ready to be turned over. Bake to a nice golden colour. Serve with honey, syrup and fresh berries or savoury option of your choice.
Recipe Notes

These can be kept in an airtight container and served cold later (if there are any left!).  To preserve well, I like to add a teaspoon or so of white vinegar.
